Mapping Space: Selections from the Collection

November 17, 2005 – April 9, 2006
Plaza Level Gallery

Mapping fulfils a basic human desire to understand the world around us and our place in it. Mapping Space, inspired by MAM’s permanent collection, shows ways in which artists use line, image, and actual maps to chart physical, psychological, and metaphorical spaces.

The exhibition features approximately 40 art works drawn from MAM’s permanent holdings and private collections, including a large wall installation by Argentinean artist Miguel Angel Rios, entitled Plume Crest, recently donated to the museum.

Other artists included in the exhibition are Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Joseph Cornell, Russell Crotty, Alfredo Jaar, Guilllermo Kuitca, and Luisa Basnuevo.
